Patti’s Pumpkin Bread…with my cream cheese marble

This recipe is loved by many. I sent some along with Bryan to his office and these people were rabid zombies, so I hear. I cut the sugar a little and add a smooth cream cheese marble to make it my own.

Worse things have happened.

Dining Out : Stable Cafe

I shot Stable Cafe this morning and had the pleasure of meeting with Tomas, the owner. He pointed out lots of sweet details including the original ceiling and walls, flooring from wood meant for the original building, and, well, that it was an actual stable back in the day. This place has so much character inside and out…even in the kitchen which, I must say, is a dream workspace for any chef or cook. I hope to go back and get a few additional shots.

Cat. Rides. Roomba.

The last and only time I was in the same room with a cat and a Roomba, I ended up with 8 claws in my lap and 2 bloody legs.

Update: (11/25/08) CNN just announced this video as their “dramatic animal” video of the day. That’s pathetically late, wouldn’t you say?

Holy crap this dress is fabulous…too bad it’s not available any more. Oh well.

I love this statement from the artist:

Please note: I am a regular person with commitments to job & family, so please allow a few months for creation of new commissioned works.

Hooray for regular people :)

Dining Out : Slow Club

I went to Slow Club last night before opening hours to take photos of the place, inside and out. This set of pictures is the first of many to come as part of a new project, which I’ve put off forever, called “Dining Out.”

I’ve also just begun a simultaneous project called “Dining In” featuring eating places in the home. So far, I’ve got mine to start with. Let me know if I can come over and take photos of where you eat. Thanks!

Corey Arnold must be the raccoon whisperer because he has not one, but two, raccaptures.

I really need to meet this kind of raccoon that stands still enough, and on its hind legs to boot, for you to soak up all that raccoonness. It’s frustrating to me that I adore these guys so much but have yet to see one in real life. :(

Please let me know if you have some in your back yard.

My Mom is a FOB…

She really is. This is also the name of a website that I am now officially addicted to. Some of the posts seem fake, but as a whole, this site is too good. My friend Courtney who introduced this to me says it’s her most favorite internet addiction…she is super white and she still gets it!

Here’s a good one:

[Mom had written "DJ masta" on the notepad on the coffee table]

Me: Wtf, who is DJ Masta?
Mom: Ohhh, I was watching a cooking show this afternoon, and they said to use that on sandwiches.
Me: You mean… dijon mustard?

Update : I just realized there is also an accompanying site, My Dad is a Fob! This excites me tremendously because I can submit email samples from my own Korean dad’s hilarious broken Engrish emails…such as this one (it’s real!):

Hello Jeannie,

The website is great, and quite too. Looks like good products. I will go to store buy them. It will help the company pay you good salary.

Koko got bath today. She was very quiet while taking bath. Even she did not move. She is a good dog. Mom likes her too. She does not say, “Take the dog away” anymore.

Good night and have a sweet dream.

Love you,

Dad

Thanks Dad!

Update : They posted my Dad’s email! But they left out the part about Koko, oh well. I thought that was the fobbiest part…

Oh god Trongs. TRONGS!?

I couldn’t stop watching this video on repeat. The sheer entertainment value almost makes up for how gross it is to watch people devour chicken wings…but they seem useful for eating messy things, nevertheless.

thanks glen

It ain’t easy bein’ bloggy…

Wow. Out of 133 million blogs indexed by Technorati, only 7.4 million were updated in the last 120 days. I am totally responsible for 2 or 3 of those and have no idea what the URLs are…good thing this one is named “strategically.”
